Solitaire S 530 & S 540

Idea

The S 530 & S 540 embody every aspect of our skills: the Cylinder Wave Transducer (CWT) is a fundamentally reworked design capable of producing a uniformly diffused sound field which avoids unwan- ted influences generated by the listening room. The newly develo- ped Mag850 magnetostat forms the heart of both loudspeakers: it brings the treble range to vibrant life with an unprecedented combi- nation of agility and unbelievable control and precision. Seven Ovaloid mid-range units transmit the full mid-range with breath- taking naturalness, speed and dynamics. A new bass system rounds off the bottom frequency range of the Solitaire S 530 and S 540: the new systems generate enormous sound pressure entirely devoid of cabinet resonance and distortion.

Mid-range-Treble design

Symetric-Directivity & CWT

All Solitaire models share the common aim of eliminating the influences of the listening room in the shaping of the mid / treble range, with the intention of delivering nothing but the uncoloured original recording to the listener. In the S 430 this task is assumed by a system we call Symetric-Directivity: its basis is two mid-range drivers arranged around the treble unit; a design which radiates an amazingly homogeneous sound stage in which reflections from the listening room’s ceiling and floor are minimised by condensing the sound source. The S 530 and S 540 exploit an even more complex and refined system in the form of Cylinder Wave Technology: the Mag850 is a perfect Line Source, whose long diaphragm radiates the same information simultaneously from all points; the seven Ovaloid mid-range units constitute a perfect Line Array, generating a homogeneous sound field over its entire length. The combination of these two systems generates a cylindrical wave within which the influences of the room are eliminated.

Design & Appearance

We have continued to develop our design language, and these new Solitaire loudspea- kers are the first products which reflect this work: the principle of “classic modernity” evolved during a two-year process, and combines timelessly classic elements such as restrained Bauhaus-style front panels with modern accents. At the same time we have succeeded in shrouding a net volume of 60 litres in the new shape in such a way that the Solitaire S loudspeakers were transformed into more than just audiophile inst- ruments, they have become timelessly progressive design statements. Their superb external form continues seamlessly inside the cabinets: they incorporate the very highest standards in materials, design and manufacture, creating the basis for unsur- passed sonic perfection and durability.
